What Do You Do When It's Hot Outside?

Why...go to the local splash park. We had a couple of cranky kids on our hands yesterday, so packed them up and headed to the park. It was a risk with how their attitudes we're, but the payoff was worth it. By the time we left, we had two very happy and tired little ones.

Right before we left for the night.

This was Dayson's first time going to the splash park. All I can say is that he LOVED it. My once water frightened little boy has turned into a water lover. He had no fear or hesitation about going face first into the sprinklers. It was so good to see these two enjoy themselves as well as cool off in a fun way.

His shorts were so wet and heavy that they started to fall down.

Next time we'll get some swim trunks ☺.

Missed it here but eventually got soaked.

Window Washer

I have a new window washer...his name is Dayson. Today I went outside on the back porch to check and see how dry the laundry was. When I turned around, this is what I saw. Just had to take his picture.

Camp

Feeling a little emotional. Iyana went off to church camp today. This is her first time going and she was so excited...also very nervous. As we worked on finishing up all the packing details this morning, it was starting to hit me that my little girl is now old enough to go off to camp by herself. She's been gone for a week before and I was ok with that, but maybe that's because she was with family. This time though...it's different. I'm so happy for her and excited to hear about all she saw and learned. Wish I could be there with her but I really feel that this will be a great growing experience for her, not to mention an awesome time of being with friends.

Her last good bye that she wanted me to pass on to BJ since he couldn't be there to see her off.

To clarify the previous post that was written by BJ... He forgot to mention that I was very tired that day and for some reason, I just said 'can I eat him'? Not sure why (and no I wasn't hungry at the time either ☺).

Here's a picture of how Dayson has been sleeping lately when we're out on the mat in the living room.

One of these days we'll be back to sleeping in our own beds for most of the night instead of just part of it.

You May Not Eat My Child!

Amanda: So, will I be able to sit at the computer and eat him?

Me: No you may not eat my son. Iyana maybe, but not my son. (I did give Amanda permission to sit in front of the computer and feed (nurse) Dayson.)

10 Months

Dayson you are 10 months old!! Time is going by way too fast for my liking. Pretty soon as Iyana is constantly reminding me, you will be a year old. Here are some highlights from this past month.

  • You are walking everywhere (or at least trying too). Your ear infection slowed you down a little as it threw off your balance, but now that things are getting better, you are constantly on the move.
  • Speaking of ear infections, you were officially diagnosed with your first one(s) this past week. The doctor barely had to look into your left ear before stating that it was bad and that the right ear was on it's way to being just as bad. No wonder we had several nights of little to no sleep with lots of screaming thrown in. We now know what to look for when we have an ear infection on our hands. The good thing is we made it almost ten months before having to deal with the first one.
  • You weigh 18lbs. 6oz. and are about 28 inches.
  • You love to close and open doors. Mainly close them though, especially if Iyana is in the pantry. You come up behind her and close her in.
  • One of your new favorite things to do is to clap while you're walking. You think it's so much fun.
  • Another thing that you have found a great love for is blowing raspberries on everyone. Instead of giving us kisses now, you come up and blow on our cheeks, then laugh at us. It's been quite hilarious with all the different noises that you make. The only down side is the drool that you leave behind, it's normally quite a lot.

  • You climb on everything! So far we've caught you up a couple of steps on Iyana's ladder to her bunk beds. You haven't yet figured out how to get on top of the chairs but I have a feeling that it's not too far off.
  • No new words for this month, but you still are talking a lot. You have also really found your outside voice with all the various pitches (especially the high ones) being practiced frequently.
  • You're getting into playing with your food. Sometimes it's ok. Like when you pick up a cheerio, bring it to your mouth like you're going to eat it and then quickly hide it in your hand. You get the biggest smile on your face and a chuckle from mommy and daddy. We probably shouldn't chuckle at that though since who knows what else you're going to do that with and it won't be so funny with the mess it makes.
  • We found out that cottage cheese makes you gag. Thought we would try something new and it was the funniest reaction yet (not that we were doing it for that). I've never seen you dislike something so instantly to the point where you were gagging like you did. After we mixed some fresh pineapple juice with it, you were a little more tolerant of it. You're a fairly good eater, just have some issues with texture. Some of them you just don't like no matter what we do.
  • Sleeping, it does get better, doesn't it? I've actually had two nights this past week in which you slept 6 hours. Since it was only those two nights, I'm guessing that you were just trying to catch up on the sleep that you lost while dealing with your ear infections. I can now count on two hands though how many times you've slept that long ☺. We're getting there!
  • Bumps and bruises have been plenty this month. Seems like every couple of days you have something new, whether it's a fat lip or a new goose egg on your head. Your most recent one was from pulling a lead crystal vase onto your head. Even though I shouted a loud 'NO' to get your attention while I ran toward you, you still turned right back around and finished pulling it down. Ended up with a nice cut on your head. I have a feeling that you will be our child who ends up in the ER a couple times a year due to injury.
  • There's been so much more that has happened this past month, but these are at least the highlights that have been fun to look back on.
