Is It Broken?!?

Not sure what's up with the tongue.

Today was one of those days. I was getting ready for work while Dayson was hanging out with Iyana in her room. A short while later, I heard the dreaded sound of someone hitting something. It was a very loud thump. Within moments the screaming came. Obviously by the sound, it was Dayson who had hurt himself. Iyana was trying to comfort him when I walked in but he immediately wanted mom. Once I was able to get him calmed down, I lifted up his face fully expecting to see a nice goose egg on his head only to find that he had fallen flat his nose onto the wooden railing that goes across Iyana's bed...ouch doesn't quite explain it. Thinking that he had broke it, I started checking for any signs of blood or misalignment. Not seeing anything other than the bumps and swelling on his nose plus a bit of a black eye starting, I was able to gently touch it and move it with no tears from him though he did swat my hand away.

The verdict?? As of right now we're just going to keep an eye on him. The swelling has since gone down and he's acting normal. When ever he's rubbed it or bumped it, he doesn't complain any. So, I don't think it's broke. Just another one of those slightly traumatic experiences that we go through as parents. And just to show that he can still be silly while in pain, here's another picture of him trying to wink at the camera.

Surgery

Dayson made it through his surgery just fine. Upon waking from the anesthesia, he screamed for a bit but then settled down. He did pretty good for the rest of the day, just had some off and on fussing which was to be expected. And guess what? He slept through most of the night! Thank you to all who have prayed for this little guy, we really appreciate it!

Lately...

Things have been the usual busy around here. Like the previous post states, we got to meet our newest nephew this past weekend. After that, we headed over to BJ's dads house to do some more visiting and let the kids see all the animals. Iyana got to feed a baby cow, climb all over the haystacks and ride in the trailer. Dayson didn't do much but walk around, fall in the mud and sit on the hay..it had been a long day for him. I don't think he was the biggest fan of the hay though since he started to cry, maybe he had a flashback of those first few memories of sitting in the grass...not sure. He then got to ride the 4-wheeler with Papa Lucky while the rest of us were in the trailer with Grammy Kim watching her throw out the timothy hay to the cows. It was a fun time for the kids and us adults had a good time visiting.

After leaving there, we headed back to Twin Falls to pick up BJ's mom where she had spent the day with her parent's. Got in a little more visiting time in and a picture, then headed home. It was a late night getting back but a very fun time had by all.

This week has brought it's ups and downs. Along with our normal schedule, Dayson had to go in and see a specialist for his ears. We got the news that his current ear infection from five weeks ago still had not cleared up and because he has already had several of them within a short amount of time, he was scheduled for surgery. Unfortunately, the surgery won't be until 7AM which may seem early except for this little guy is an early bird and wants to eat right away. I'm praying that for once, he'll sleep in and will be distracted once we're there since he can't eat until after the surgery. We're hoping that this surgery will clear all these infections up and that he can start sleeping again without pain.

Our church did a Trunk-or-Treat last night for all the AWANA kids. Iyana dressed as Queen Esther and as you can see, Dayson was a leopard. The theme was either bible characters or animals, nothing scary for this event. The kids had fun going from car to car getting all sorts of candy. For once, Dayson actually allowed us to put his outfit on him. His normal reaction was to scream at it and run away. He did fuss a little at first, but soon started having fun. Iyana enjoyed running around with her friends and trading candy.

Hopefully I haven't lost you with this long post. Lately I seem to go long periods of not posting anything and then doing a couple of long ones. Until life gets a little less busy (will that ever happen?), I may stick more to this routine. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week. I'll post updates later on how Dayson's surgery went. Another New Nephew

Yesterday we had the pleasure of meeting our newest nephew (or cousin to the kids), Bridger Dean. I had so much fun taking his newborn pictures. He's so cute and tiny and made the sweetest little noises that only newborns make. These are some of my favorites from this mini photo shoot.

Catching Up

I've been in a bit of a blog writing funk lately. Not sure why other than my schedule hasn't allowed for a lot of extra time here. We made a trip to WA this past week for a much needed break and some good ole family and friends time. It was so great to see everyone. I was afraid that the trip was going to mess up Dayson's newly sleeping through the night schedule but he did great! He also did great on the drive both ways. Mom, the kids and I had a little bit of excitement on the trip there when the tire pressure light popped on 3 hours into the trip. Found that I had a lovely screw in the back tire. Got that fixed and then was told that it wasn't advisable to make the rest of the trip due to our front tires being in bad shape. After talking with mom, we decided that we would go ahead and finish the trip. God protected us and we made it to WA safely.

While there, we were able to visit with many wonderful friends that we haven't seen in a while. Dayson immediately started mastering the stairs (as well as falling down the stairs). Both kids had a blast being with Papa and Grammy as well as playing outside and with the dogs. With all the fun that we had and the busyness of the week, it was really hard to come back home. I'm thinking that the next time we head up, we'll need to stay for two weeks to soak up all the family time that we can get.

Since I've been in a picture taking funk as well, I tried to make up for that on this trip. Here's just some of the pictures that I took while on vacation.

Playing on the steps that he took a header off of. He of course fell face first off of the top step over the part where there was no bottom step. That put a few gray hairs on my head. Fortunately, he came through that with only a scratch on his nose and a bit of a mark on his forehead.
