Litl B Pictures

Had an ultrasound today to make sure everything was going ok with Litl B. My midwife was a little concerned since I was only feeling kicking on my lower left side. We wanted to make sure this little one was growing well. As it turns out, nothing to fear.

One thing that stood out with Litl B, he/she was very calm compared to when I had an ultrasound with Dayson. I think we may finally be getting our laid back baby. Of course, only time will tell but the thought of a calmer baby is kind of nice ☺.

The Baby Game

We're playing the baby game again! You can guess the gender, weight, length, day and time. We've enjoyed seeing the guesses so far and can't wait to see if someone actually hits it right on. We'll be leaving the poll open until around the 37 week mark (January 11th). Plenty of time to put in your guess. Litl B is due on or around February 1, 2013.

Have fun guessing and thanks for playing!

17 Weeks + 1 Day

After talking with my friend Serena about why I haven't done a pregnancy post yet, I decided to just do it. My reasons for not posting one so far? Life has been so busy and I really haven't felt well at all. When I do actually have a few minutes, it's normally the only time that BJ and I have to sit quietly and chat for a few minutes before going to bed. So... my priorities have been focused on my family and not blogging. I keep saying I'm going to try to do better but right now, I think I'll have to be honest with myself and just realize that I'll get to blogging when I'm able and not stress if I don't post something every week.

Moving along to the pregnancy. It's hard to imagine that I have a little under three weeks left before I hit the halfway point. In some ways, time has been flying by and in other ways, I feel like it's dragging. That would be mainly because the morning (all day) sickness is a lot worse this time around and is being stubborn about hanging on. It's been bad enough that my midwife sent me to the doctor so I could get a prescription for anti-nausea meds. So far this has been the only way for me to make it through some of my days. My only other problem that I've had with this pregnancy is daily headaches that like to turn into migraines. I'm prone to getting headaches as it is but normally during pregnancy, I don't have many at all. This time around though, it's been brutal. Tylenol, chiropractic care and a couple of massages have brought some relief, and for that I'm thankful.

Week 17
+ 1 Day

Litl B is about 5 inches long from head to bottom and weighs around 3.5 ounces (about the size of an avocado). The baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone and the umbilical cord is getting stronger and thicker. He/she is also getting ready for another big growth spurt. In the next few weeks, Litl B will double in size and add more inches to his/her length.

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 17 weeks 1 day
Total Weight Gain: Nothing yet, been too sick.
Maternity Clothes: Wearing a couple things here and there. Definitely noticing that my regular clothes are getting very tight.
Best Moment This Week: Last Sunday I didn't have to take any nausea meds or anything for a headache. Such a praise to have at least one day medicine free!
Gender and Name: Like with Iyana and Dayson, we won't be finding out the gender until the baby is born and we won't be sharing names until that time as well. ☺
Movement: This one so far has been pretty calm. I only occasionally feel a little kick here and there.
Food Craving: No major cravings, though I do have times when something sounds really good. Fruit settles pretty good so I've been eating a lot of that.
Sleep: Sleep depends on the night. Some nights I'll sleep until the early hours of the morning before having to get up, other nights I get up a couple of times. Sleepless nights I can see are going to be starting early with this one.
Symptoms: Lots of nausea and headaches.
What I'm Looking Forward To: Cooler weather! I think the heat (and smoke from all the fires) has played a big role in my all day sickness and headaches. On top of that, I'm really looking forward to visiting with my family soon.

School News

Before posting about Iyana going into 5th grade, I wanted to back up a little and and write about the ending of her school year for 4th grade. Our church  has got a great group of homeschoolers who get together about once a month to do different activites. For the end of the year, we did an open house. Each child had their own table to display all of the work that they have done through out the year. It was a wonderful turn out and very encouraging to all of us.

Iyana started knitting this year and has really enjoyed it. Her favorite thing to do is making outfits for all her stuffed animals.

Books that we used this past year.

Some of her artwork.

Eating dinner with our friends.

Iyana did a wonderful job learning Greek this year along with her knitting.

After the kids had dinner, showed off some of the things that they had learned that year and got an award, they all went outside to play for a bit while the adults had a good time of fellowship. We had a great year of homeschooling. Though there were some days that were really tough, I'm so glad that we get to have Iyana at home teaching her not only school work, but God's word. It's a great reminder to me to be aware of what kind of example I'm showing her of being a godly parent, something that I have to work on everyday.

5th Grade

We started school a little early this year... July 30th to be exact. This is partly due to taking some extra time off for when the new baby comes, but also because we don't like having such a long break inbetween learning. Iyana wasn't terribly thrilled about it but once she learned that one of her friends was starting on the same day, it really helped her get back in the mode.

Some days it's hard to grasp that I have a 5th grader now. It wasn't that long ago that I was getting my little girl ready for her first day of school in Pre-K. We're so proud of all that she has learned and how's she growing up. I'm excited to see what changes this year will bring.

Iyana, we love you so much and are so proud of you and all that you have accomplished over the years. Most importantly, it has been a blessing to see you grow in Christ and come to a loving knowledge of your Savior.

Jesus Loves Me

Turn the volume up to hear this, because it'll melt your heart. At least it did mine. Had no idea that Dayson had paid any attention to this song when we've sang it or he's heard it playing on the CD player until he started singing along with it yesterday. He still has a hard time pronouncing words, but you can tell the parts he knows clearly.

I like how he got a little camera shy for a moment. My little outgoing child does have the rare quiet side as well. So glad I got this as I know when he's older and I can't remember what he sounded like as a toddler, I can always look back and watch it over and over again.

22 Months

Two more months and I'm going to have a 2 year old running around. That just doesn't seem possible. What a blessing these past several months have been in watching Dayson grow from a little baby to a toddler. I've loved seeing how not only he's changed, but the rest of us. Iyana is such a great big sister. As much as they squabble with each other, they have a closeness that only siblings can have. I love seeing them together.

Here's a brief update on what he's been up to lately.

As of right now Dayson weighs 29.5 pounds and is about 34 inches tall. We're still working on making up the weight that he lost when sick. I feel like he's in a constant growth spurt as he's always hungry. He really likes his routine of having a banana and a cereal bar in the morning. When we've run out of those, the mornings don't go so well. Funny how some kids have to have the same things everyday or it really messes the day up.

To add on to his growing this month, he still wears a size 2T in most clothing, though like I've said before there are some 3T things that fit him perfectly. He's bumped up a size in shoes and now officially wears a size 7. I'm hoping that we don't have any more major growth spurts until closer to fall. I really don't want to have to buy a new wardrobe for him in the summer if I don't have to.

We finally took Dayson in to get his hair professionally cut. I've trimmed it about three times but it was just getting too long. On top of that, because his hair is so thick, the curls were making him pretty sweaty when he was running around (which is all the time of course). Needless to say though, the haircutting experience did NOT go well. Not only did he throw himself this way and that so that the gal couldn't cut his hair very easily, he ended up getting hair in his mouth which made him gag and then throw up two or three times. I lost count in just trying to get the whole ordeal over with. The hairdresser was really nice about it and didn't freak out that he had gotten sick, she just kept working away as fast as she could. Considering there's a couple of spots that you can tell are not cut the best, I think it turned out pretty cute.

He was growling at me in this shot, just showing how tough he is I guess ☺

Speaking of his not liking things, or more clearly, his temper, Dayson is in the stage of full blown temper tantrums. I thought before when he was giving me the occasional one was bad, now it's almost every time we say no to something or he just plain doesn't like something. And it's not just the kicking and screaming that we get. It's the all out drop down on the ground in a very dramatic fashion and thrash about. Getting him into the carseat when he doesn't want to be in it is not the easiest thing in the world either. Have I mentioned how strong he's gotten? I'm scared to see what things are going to be like when I'm a lot further on in my pregnancy. Let's just say that baby #3 has gotten his/hers fair share of kicks and headbutts already.

One thing to add to the temper tantrums is that he learned it was not very smart to throw one while in the swimming pool. This child LOVES water but HATES getting his face wet. The other day we told him it was time to get out. Of course that wasn't to his liking so what does he do....drops down face first into the water. The water was high enough that it went over his head. He got up as quickly as he could screaming the whole time but was more than willing at that point to get out. BJ and I got a good laugh out of that one.

Some things that he still loves to do are helping out anyone who's working on something. Whether that be emptying the dishwasher, sweeping (watch out or you'll get hit with the broom), moving tables at church (a huge favorite) or anything else he "thinks" you need help with. I'm hoping that he keeps this kind of liking as that will be a huge help when he's older. Maybe he'll be my child that can't stand a mess and has to clean it up without me asking...wouldn't that be every parent's dream?

He loves anything to do with toy cars. Hotwheels or Matchbox cars are a big hit right now. Of course, they all end up under the oven since it's just the right height and it's so fun to push them under there...grrrr.... Really anything that has wheels right now gets his attention.

And one last thing before I close. He's still not saying too many words (well, unless you count 'yup' which is what he answers to almost anything). He actually prefers to imitate sounds. If he hears something more than once, you can almost guarantee that you'll be hearing something similar from him later on or when he hears it again. One that cracks me up is the jingle to the radio station that we sometimes listen to.

We love you Dayson and are continued to be blessed by being your family!

Catching up

I've gotten so far behind in posting. With the kids being sick, VBS and me dealing with my own morning sickness, blogging hasn't really been a top priority for me. Here's the rest of the pictures from our vacation last month.

This little humming bird got stuck in the skylight. Thanks to dad, he (or she) was able to get out and fly away.

Nice sunny day which means great fun with bubbles.

He loved chasing them.

Diesel also loved chasing them which brought a lot of giggles from the kids.
